"God Will Make This Trial A Blessing"

This song was written by Terry Tidwell back in 1988.  Terry, his dad, and his wife Vickie recorded this song which became their signature song.  It was made popular by The McKameys in 1989 when they recorded it on their album 'Sing Praises' and then it appears again in 1992 on Eddie Crook's pianist album called 'Hits and Hymns.'

Bro. Tidwell was born December 14, 1959 and by the age of three his dad would stand him upon the altar to sing in church.
He's dad taught him and his siblings to sing harmony. He was just twelve years old when his family recorded their first album titled If God Walks with Me.  He was playing the piano by the age of sixteen.  He wrote his first song at the age of seventeen.    He married his wife Vickie in 1978.

I personally first remember hearing this song in the first Apostolic Church I attended back in 1992 from the piano player there at the church.  It meant so much to me then when I was facing so many trials I held to the knowledge that God was making them into blessings, and he still does today.  Hopefully in the near future Bro. Tidwell will have time to share the inspiration or story behind this wonderful song still being sung in churches today, and one of my favorite to sing.

I found a website for Bro Terry Tidwell.  Here is the weblink:     http://theterrytidwellfamily.com/Pages/History.html
You will also find a portion of this song on their products page under Timeless Treasure which can also be purchased.  There are other clips of their songs as well I am sure you will enjoy, I did.

Song Lyrics
"God will make this trial a blessing"
I

I’ve just come into a valley one like I’ve never been before.
I keep searching for a way out seems like pad locks are on the doors.
Oh ther must be another sunrise another sunset that I’ll see.
God will make this trial a blessing that’s the love he has for me.

II

I was not the first one to come into this place.
You see every child of God this test you must face.
It is here that God will mold you and make you what you ought to be.
God will make this trial a blessing just be patient you will see.

Now I’m standing on a mountain lookin back I can see.
When I was in that lowest valley his strong hand was leading me.
Oh its good to see the sunshine and to taste sweet victory.
God has made this trial a blessing oh the grace he gives to me.

chorus

God will make this trial a blessing tho it sends me to my knees.
Tho my tears flow like a river yet in him there’s sweet relief.
There’s no need to get discouraged there’s no need to talk defeat.
God will make this trial a blessing and the whole wide world will see.

I am so excited that 3 years after posting this I have finally found a YouTube video of Bro Tidwell singing this song he wrote with his Trio. Updated 10/27/15.

I first put this video together from pictures I found on google images along with
a music clip I had of the McKamey's singing this wonderful song so I put it on YouTube myself for at the time I created this post there was not one of this song found anywhere.

The McKameys performing on the Gospel Jubilee television program that aired on the Nashville Network in 1990. This video was just posted to YouTube on May 26, 2013.

I have searched many places online for sheet music and have been unsuccessful.
You may try to contact Bro. Terry Tidwell at terrytidwelltrio2011@gmail.com
Soundtracks are available online the best I believe is
Praise Hymn Soundtracks as you only have to purchase the chord you need.

  1. I love the format you have here; it is easy to follow, and I love that you posted the lyrics as well. However, I am trying to find the chords to go with it & have had no luck. Do you know where I may find them? A lady in our praise team wants us to work on that song...Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks! Godspeed...

    2. Thank you for your kind words. I am sorry for the delayed response. I have been getting notifications on the other post but I haven't received any of these comments. I have looked for sheet music with no luck. You may try sending an email to the McKamey's with this question.

  4. So, sorry ladies, I have no idea why I didn't get a notification of these comments. I did find a website that has the soundtrack that I use myself on Praise Hymn Soundtracks. What I really love about the site is that you only have to purchase the chord you are needing for about $1.29. If you have already found that than maybe this will help others for future reference.
